|
| Why are safety
standards so important? |
| Simply put, safety standards protect your precious
child from injury. The sad fact is that safety standards
in the USA are strictly voluntary. As such, many
stroller manufacturers do not bother to build their
products with safety in mind. The Consumer Product
Safety Commission (http://www.kidsource.com/CPSC)
has volumes of reports of injured children who were
placed in inferior children's products. |
| At Mountain Buggy®, we take safety very seriously.
All of our products have passed safety standards
in every country we sell, regardless of whether
or not those standards are mandatory. In the USA,
our products are made to ASTM F-833 standards. This
means our products have been proven to be stable,
free of sharp edges, and able to withstand the types
of forces that a stroller may encounter. |
|
|
| Are Mountain
Buggy® strollers suitable for newborns? |
| Yes, our strollers are suitable for newborns.
Research suggests strongly that the more horizontal
the better to ensure good oxygen supply is maintained,
so we recommend that Mountain Buggy® strollers
are used in the fully reclined position for newborns
with the addition of an infant head rest until good
head and neck and some trunk control is established.
We also recommend that you check with your pediatrician
before taking our strollers off-road or jogging
when you have such a small passenger. |
|
|
| Are 12 inch
tires good enough for jogging? |
| Absolutely. The main issue with regards to jogging
with smaller tires on other strollers has to do
with stride space. Mountain Buggy's clever design
has allowed for excellent stride space. This combined
with the incredible ease of push and perfect wheel
alignment makes the Mountain Buggy an excellent
choice for joggers. |
| 12 inch tires offer additional advantages: Your
child's fingers won't get caught in the spokes like
they may in larger tires. Our strollers fold easily
and compactly with no need to remove the tires. |
| For serious joggers, we recommend the Terrain
over the Urban, as this product will run true. The
occasional jogger will find the Urban will perform
just fine. |
| We always recommend you check with your pediatrician
before attempting to go jogging with your baby. |
|
|
| Once we receive
our Mountain Buggy®, what kind of setup is involved? |
| The only thing you need to do is place the tires
on the stroller, and tighten them in place. This
can generally be done in less than 5 minutes. You
are then ready to enjoy your new Mountain Buggy®. |
| We do recommend you check your tire pressure to
ensure it is between 15 and 20 psi. A good rule
of thumb is to pinch each tire. If it feels fairly
firm, but will pinch a bit without too much force,
it is probably fine. If it pinches a fair bit, you
probably need some air. |

|
|
| I am having
a problem keeping my tire inflated, what should
I do? |
| For the comfort of your child's ride, Mountain
Buggy tires are much like the tire on a mountain
bike: each tire has a rugged tread and an inner
tube. Hard plastic tires often found on strollers
are unable to absorb the impact of travelling over
diverse terrain. Occasionally, as with a mountain
bike, the inner tube can be punctured. If this happens,
it is easily replaced by going to a local bike store
and asking for a 12.5" inner tube (for Urban
and Terrain models) or a 10" inner tube (for
Breeze models). If you are unable to locate a bike
store near you, please feel free to contact us at
(866)524-8805, and we will help you with a replacement. |

|
| The
swivel wheel on my Urban stroller occasionally locks
up, how do I keep this from happening again? |
| If the knob is over-rotated, this may occur. To
keep from over-rotating the knob, follow these guidelines:
With your thumb pointing straight up, grasp the
knob and pull out; then rotate the knob towards
you (counter-clockwise) until your thumb points
toward the ground (a 180 degree rotation). Following
this simple instruction will keep your wheel from
locking unexpectedly. On the 2005 Urban model, we
have added marks on the knob to serve as guides
to keep over-rotation from occurring. |
